Having pioneered the possibilities of music in the Welsh language (Cymraeg) with Adwaith—and garnering high acclaim both at home and abroad, including becoming the first artist ever to win the Welsh Music Awards twice—she has now taken a bold step into a new realm of expression with this ambitious work. Written during a European tour and finalized amidst the landscapes of West Wales, the album was produced by Gwenllian Anthony and Steffan Pringle. It incorporates the bold experimental spirit of Kim Gordon and Björk, the free-flowing sense of rhythm of Lizzy Mercier Descloux and CAN, and the immersive soundscapes reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails, Tricky, Massive Attack, and spans industrial electronics, alternative pop, art rock, and experimental music. The 10 tracks, sung entirely in Welsh, interweave hypnotic rhythms, distorted electronic sounds, intimate melodies, and raw emotions. While deeply rooted in Wales, the album paints a universal musical world that resonates across borders.
