Two new releases by Little Axe on vinyl for the first time through On-U Sound! A blues dub masterpiece with Adrian Sherwood's timeless sound design and Skip McDonald's smoldering guitar work. Little Axe's album released in 2002 is now available on vinyl for the first time! Little Axe is the blues-infused alter-ego of guitarist Skip McDonald, who is best known for his work in the backing band of the Sugar Hill Gang, as a member of Tuckhead, and for his many arrangements in On-U Sound's extensive catalog. He has also worked on numerous arrangements for On-U Sound's extensive catalog. His dreamlike, nebulous, cryptic albums slowly and lazily overtake the listener's sense of time and space. Fragments of the singer's voice drift like ghosts out of the fog and back into it, entwining with slow, sensual, steamy rhythms. The seductive mix undulates and creeps, enveloping McDonald's overwhelmingly understated guitar playing.It seems to echo from deep within the swampy depths of the Delta blues scriptures, with smoky, dubbed-out effects, loops, and echo chambers by Adrian Sherwood sprinkled throughout. It's a sound that transcends time and space, yet feels like an inevitability that could not have come from any other place than here. - Thom Jurek, All Music Originally released on Fat Possum Records in the U.S., this album was edited for vinyl by Adrian Sherwood and recut by Frank Merritt of The Carvery.
