Formed in Yeovil, Somerset, in southwest England, the BIKINIMUTANTS were an early ’80s cult post-punk band that helped shape the western underground scene alongside groups like THEMOB. Bassist DEBBIEGOOGE, who later joined MYBLOODYVALENTINE and played a pivotal role throughout their entire career—including on *LOVELESS*— and vocalist Christine Cole, who later joined The Chesterfields—a C86-style guitar pop band representing Bristol’s renowned label Subway Organization—came together as a precursor to the band. They were also a key project associated with the legendary fanzine *All the Madmen*, published alongside members of The Mob. Two rare demo recordings made in 1982 at MONITOR STUDIOS in Milborne Port, Somerset, have finally been released on vinyl after approximately 44 years. Presented as a historical archive where the freshness of early indie pop intersects with the sharp texture of post-punk, all while rooted in the spirit of anarcho-punk. A legend known only to the very limited audience of those who heard the demo tapes at the time has finally been fully revealed through the relentless research of the SEALED label. Featuring 12 tracks in total, including the post-punk masterpiece "POORLITTLEACTRESS," woven from fuzz-laden guitars and Third World NW-style drumming, and the GIRLSATOURBEST-esque DIY punkish indie pop gem "PREY." The result is a highly addictive sound woven from the raw energy that seamlessly connects DOLLYMIXTURE to CRASS, and the delicacy reminiscent of the AUPAIRS and MARINEGIRLS. More than just a collection of tracks, this release includes a deluxe 20-page booklet packed with previously unpublished photos, interviews, and reviews from the era. It is a treasure trove dedicated to all post-punk fans, allowing them to relive the raw creativity of DEBBIEGOOGE on the eve of MY BLOODY VALENTINE, alongside the atmosphere of the scene at that time.
