A meditative and restful arrangement of Satie by Swedish jazz pianist Martin Hedelos! One might say that Erik Satie was playing before the genre of jazz was even born. This makes us wonder how Satie's works would sound in the hands of a jazz pianist today. On this subject, we present Martin Hedelos, a jazz pianist who re-creates Satie. Martin Hedelos, winner of more than 10 Swedish Grammy Awards, has explored the worlds of jazz, rock, and pop over the course of his 25-year long career. He performs more than 100 sessions a year with a variety of artists. Satie's interpretations of the ten songs here explore the boundaries between classical and jazz in a very interesting way and are arranged in a healing piano way. After producing three solo albums of my own, the challenge of interpreting Erik Satie's music seemed challenging, fascinating, and a good way to find new angles and flavors in my own music. Besides the soothing mellowness we associate with Satie's music, I discovered a very brave and sometimes stubborn minimalism, and besides the blue harmonies now associated with jazz, it must have been very challenging to the late 19th century ear.I discovered that it really is a salty, almost clustered color.
