Lichen Slow, a band by Malcolm Middleton (Arab Strap) and Joel Harris (Team Leader, 72%), will launch. Rock Action Records will release Lichen Slow's debut album, Rest Lurks, in March 2023.Malcolm Middleton is a Scottish indie rock band Arab Strap. Also a multi-instrumentalist, his solo records delve deeper into his ability to blend humor and poetic expression with an anthemic, acoustic indie sound. Joel Harries' discography, on the other hand, spans solo records, a gently electronic duo, Team Leader, and an instrumental noise band, 72%. After a chance meeting through a mutual friend, Harries and Middleton immediately became interested in collaborating.For both of them, Lichen Slow is a band steeped in interdependence and patience. As musicians who have each worked on a number of solo and collaborative projects, they are well aware of the creative stumbling blocks that arise in the face of deadlines and expectations. However, on their debut, Rest Lurks, rather than meeting expectations, they let their instinctive spontaneity breathe, amplifying a certain curiosity and openness about the world.
