A simple but dense masterpiece of chamber folk!
Huber is a talented musician who comes from the MPB scene in Rio de Janeiro, but has gone beyond the boundaries of MPB to show his versatility. Starting with his first album "Pearl" (2013) with an indie-folk taste, his second album "Casas" (2018) further broadened his sound, incorporating orchestral arrangements and hip-hop to create a sparkling work of art. The third album, "As Palavras, Vol. 1 & 2" (2023), returned to the band's Brazilian roots, while also presenting songs with a funkier taste.
In "Beleza. Mas agora a gente faz o que com isso?" (2025), his first new album in two years, Huber has expanded his sound with a variety of approaches, but his arrangements are a bit more subdued and he returns to the roots of his own methodology, folk music. With the fruits of his 10-year journey as his creative fodder, he has produced a simple but dense chamber-folk work.
Compared to the previous album, which contained a total of 20 songs, this album contains only 9 songs.Two of the cover songs included are a Portuguese cover of Mexican singer/songwriter El David Aguilar's song "A laVentana, Carolina" and a cover of Radiohead's classic "Reckoner The cover of "Reckoner," from Radiohead's 2007 album In Rainbows. Huber sings these delicate songs with a falsetto voice that seems to follow Thom Yorke in gently enveloping the listener. The earth-shattering string arrangement was created by master musician Artur Velokai.
There is no doubt that MPB is currently a minority in the Brazilian music market. But Fubel, one of the scene's biggest names, has once again created a masterpiece that leads the way for Caetano Veloso and his predecessors.
