Description:

The band began performing under the name Steps Ahead in 1983, and since then, various prominent artists such as Chuck Loeb (g), Daryl Jones (b), Rachel Z (p), Steve Kahn (g), Tony Levin (b), and Dennis Chambers (ds) have come and gone as members. The Steps Ahead released their first album in 2005, "The Steps Ahead", which was followed by a live tour. Steps Ahead has released an album of their performances in 2005. This is the complete archive recording of Steps Ahead's performance at the Jazz Festival in Switzerland on July 8, 2005, during their 2005 European tour. The members are Mike Mainieri, former Journey drummer Steve Smith, saxophonist Bill Evans, who was selected for the Miles Band in 1980, guitarist Mike Stern, who was also in the Miles Band, and the top band member who was called the second coming of Jaco Pastorius because of his phenomenal playing. Richard Bona, who is renowned as one of the top bassists and has become a darling of the public after being called the second coming of Jaco Pastorius for his astonishing playing.
