The label started with the release of Mark Gardner's (Ride) 7" and became one of the leading labels in the indie/shoegaze scene since the 00's, releasing albums by Slowdive, Andy Bell (Ride), Emma Anderson (Rush), and others. The label has become one of the leading labels in the indie/shoegaze scene since the '00s.The label celebrates its 20TH anniversary with the release of an oversized compilation, "Celebrate Yourself! The Sonic Cathedral Story 2004-2024" will be released in a large volume 4CD boxed set, featuring a 7" by Horsegirls released in 2021 and an alternative version of "Spin the Bottle" from Neil Halstead's (Slowdive) 2012 masterpiece "Palindrome Hunches". The collection also includes remixes by Andrew Weatherall and others, live recordings of Slowdive and Dean Wareham (Galaxy 500), and more recently, an alternative version of "Spin the Bottle," which was released on Sonic Cathedral's 2012 masterpiece "Palindrome Hunches, The label's ongoing influence on the scene is also evident in its recent releases, such as Dearly, a dream-pop duo from London, UK, who have released a series of masterful EPs, and Whitelands, a shoegaze band from London, UK, who are at the forefront of the new generation of black British guitar music. This is a very satisfying selection that confirms the label's ongoing and powerful influence on the scene.The contents of the album, which includes previously unreleased songs and is the first physical and CD release of the album, are so gorgeous that even if you celebrate, you won't be able to weep.
