Fujiko Hemming, known as the "Pianist of the Soul," captivated audiences both in Japan and abroad with her emotionally charged and dynamic performances. Directed by Shoichiro Komatsu, who has been covering her for 12 years—including the 2018 documentary *Fujiko Hemming’s Time*—*Fujiko Hemming: The Eternal Sound* delves into her true self, capturing her soul-stirring performances and life story. The film features performance scenes—including the breathtaking “La Campanella,” numerous classical masterpieces, and rare original compositions making their debut—as well as interview footage with Fujiko herself, her illustrated diary, and testimonies from her half-sister Eva and her actor brother Wolf, whose existence was revealed through this film. The film looks back on her eventful life as she overcame various hardships—including parting with her Swedish father in childhood, her mother’s strict lessons, the difficulties of being stateless, a poor student life abroad, an unforgettable romance, and the loss of her hearing—to become a recognized and popular pianist in her 60s.
