Live recording (2nd show + rehearsal) at Shibuya eggman on July 14, 1981 by THE ROOSTERS with 4 original members: Shinya Oe (vo, g), Hiroyuki Hanada (vo, g), Tomio Inoue (b), and Junji Ikehata (ds), remastered in 2024 and released on CD only on Tower Records. CD release in 2024, limited to Tower Records. The first show "The Basement Tapes - Live at Shibuya eggman 1981.7.14. 1st show" (PROT-1381) held on the same day was also released at the same time. (Also, "The Basement Tapes - Sunny Day Live at Shibuya eggman 1981.7.14." (2 CDs / ISCP-1156-7/ UPCH-20013-4), which includes "Rehearsal -> 1st Show -> 2nd Show", was released in 2003 and 2007. but it is hard to find now). On July 14, 1981, shortly after the release of their 2nd album "THE ROOSTERS a-GOGO" and 4th single "GIRL FRIEND", the band released "Live is the best.This documentary is full of the thrill and energy of THE ROOSTERS that inspires fans of the band called "THE ROOSTERS". From their second album, "THE ROOSTERS a-GOGO," the film features a cover of the instrumental "TELSTAR," a worldwide hit by The Tornados that was famously covered by The Ventures, and a cover of the blues harp song by Shinya Oe (presumably). TELSTAR", a cover of Chuck Berry's "COME ON" with Shinya Oe (presumably) on blues harp, the original "FADE AWAY" written by Shinya Oe, "I'M A KING BEE" by Slim Harpo (James Moore), a cover of Bo Diddley's signature song The band also performed a number of originals, including "I'M A MAN," a cover of Bo Diddley's classic by the Yardbirds, "SITTING ON THE FENCE," and "DISSATISFACTION," the coupling track to the third single "ONE MORE KISS.From the first album "THE ROOSTERS" comes a cover of "MONA (I NEED YOU BABY)", Bo Diddley's masterpiece and also famous for its cover by The Rolling Stones, the debut single "Rosie", which has a different atmosphere from the first show, and its coupling song "Let's Fall in Love", which borrows the Japanese title from Willie Dixon's "I Just Want to Make Love to You", also known for its cover of The Rolling Stones and Muddy Waters, and the 2nd single "Can't help it, a song about love", The album also features a nice selection of songs, including Eddie Cochran's cover of "C'mon Everybody," a blues and R&B standard that The Rolling Stones also covered, and 50's pop songs. Although not included on the album, the live standard "LEATHER BOOTS" and Dr. Feelgood's cover of the live standard "SHE DOES IT RIGHT" can be heard on this album.The encore included "TEQUILA," a cover of The Champs' classic song from their first album, "DO THE BOOGIE" (lyrics by Toshiyuki Shibayama, music by Makoto Ayukawa), a Sun House cover also from their first album, "LIPSTICK ON YOUR COLLAR," a rock cover of Connie Francis' love song from their second album, and "BYE BYE MY GIRL," a classic from their first album, but not on the album. The setlist of the 1st Show and the 2nd Show was quite different, and only 4 songs, including singles, were duplicated.
