In addition to the South by Southwest Film Festival mentioned above, the film has been screened at Hot Docs in Toronto, the Boston Independent Film Festival, Doc Lisboa, the Jecheon International Music and Film Festival in Korea, the International Film and Video Festival in Athens, Greece, the Gimme Shelter Film Festival in Athens, and many other festivals. The film, which was produced with full support from the bereaved families, was directed by Don Argott and Demian Fenton. Don Argott and Sheena Joyce of 9.14 Pictures were the producers, and Wendy Dio of Nisi Productions and Kathy Rivkin Daum of BMG were the executive producers. Ronnie James Dio passed away from stomach cancer in 2010, but he remains in music history as one of the most influential rock artists of all time and one of the greatest vocalists of all time. He had a truly illustrious career from the 1950s to the 2000s.The documentary chronicles his rise from supporting band member to singer and songwriter. He went on to become the frontman of not one, but three world-renowned rock bands: Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and Dio. Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and Dio were all multi-platinum sellers and arena-busting live acts. Dio is also the man who popularized the "melodic signature" that is now synonymous with hard rock and heavy metal. Dio is known for his pursuit of his dream of becoming a rock singer, and he continues to be an inspiration to the next generation of artists. Dio is remembered by his fans around the world not only as a talented musician, but also as a kind-hearted man. That is why his adoring fans have raised millions of dollars for cancer research through the "Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund. Argott and Fenton, who directed the film, said, "We're very proud of the work he's done.A man like Ronnie James Dio, who combines conviction, talent, and kindness, is becoming a rarity these days. That's why I'm thrilled to tell his story, which has the power to move people's hearts. He believed in himself and followed his dreams throughout his life.
