Description:
An electrifying fusion of music drama and Japanese mythology. The great work "JODO (Jodo)", dedicated to Kuniko Kato, finally appears! Counterpoint Trilogy, the "Steve Reich Project" represented by the astonishing "Drumming," in which all parts were played by one person, Xenakis' "Pleiades," in which all six independent parts were played by himself to beautifully reproduce the sound field intended by the composer, and the overwhelming scale of which caused a great sensation, and In addition, LINN Records will release the marimba concerto and complete marimba solo works by Akira Miyoshi, the pride of Japan, "Cantus" by Pärt, the Estonian master who established the Tintinabuli style, and "Solo Works for Marimba" by J.S.Bach, a phenomenal hit here in Japan as well. Noriko Kato is one and only one of Japan's world-class percussionists, and has been active in a wide range of fields, including the following. Sargasso Records is pleased to announce the release of "Music Theatre 'JODO'", an electrifying fusion of music theater and Japanese mythology, composed by British composer James Wood, commissioned by Graham Hall, and dedicated to Kuniko Kato. Music Theatre "JODO", commissioned by Graham Hall and dedicated to Kuniko Kato. Inspired by the short story "The Monk of Shiga Temple and His Love" by Yukio Mishima, one of the most famous writers of Japanese literature, "JODO" was conceived and composed between 1998 and 1999. After a semi-staged performance in Oxford in 1999, it was performed at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, one of the world's leading contemporary music festivals, in 2001 by sopranos Sarah Leonard In 2005, the work was transformed into a complete stage production by director Satoshi Miyagi, and premiered in Japan in Yokohama, Nagoya, and Tokyo. JODO," which has strong ties to Japan, uses a variety of percussion instruments, including traditional Japanese drums, wooden fish, gongs, and water sounds reminiscent of a suikinkutsu (water fountain). The sound of rotating bronze bells and nature sounds made at the Obertino workshop in France enhance the ethereal atmosphere, and the recitation by Kuniko Kato herself, intertwined with an imaginary language that imitates the sound of Japanese sung by Anja Petersen, a famous soprano who is also active in the RIAS Chorus, creates an unworldly and fantastic sound space. The sound space is created by the intertwining of an imaginary language that imitates Japanese sounds. One of the key points is the use of IRCAM's "Spatialisateur" for the construction of the electronic sound. JODO," a sound journey that transcends the boundaries of time, space, culture, and emotion, resonates with various messages for our chaotic times. Tokyo M-Plus
