Nielsen showed great musical talent from an early age, most notably on the violin, where he played second violin in the Royal Danish Orchestra during his twenties and thirties. In his 20s and 30s, he was the second violinist of the Royal Danish Orchestra and was involved in the Danish premiere of Verdi's opera, and his violin works are full of melodies that only a person who knows the instrument well can produce. His violin works are full of melodies that could only be sung by someone who knows the instrument inside out. This album contains all of his works for violin. His early work, the G major sonata, has a Mozartian flavor, but his mature work, the Violin Sonata No. 2, not only shows the "developmental tonality" (departure from tonality) that Nielsen sought, but also shows the great changes made to the first movement, which was somewhat redundant, on the advice of a friend later on. The later Op. 48 and Op. 52 are the most famous works of the same period. The later works, Op. 48 and Op. 52, were inspired by Bach's works, but they are experimental works with a lot of special techniques and double stops, etc., and they also explore the unique and austere style of the late Nielsen's works.The tasteful tone of Danish-born, U.S.-based violinist Hasse Borup is music to the ears.
