Description:

Charles-Auguste de Berio was a Belgian violinist and composer. He was the founder of the French-Belgian (Franco-Belgian) school of music, and his style of playing was so cutting edge in the 19th century that his concerts in London and Paris caused a sensation. In 1896, The Strad, a magazine founded in England in 1890, published an article on Berio in which it praised his "technique as perfect, and his sound, though not loud, is beautiful and noble. Many of Berio's concertos are spectacular works that make full use of heavy techniques and harmonics, and are known not only to be enjoyable to listen to but also to be immensely effective in acquiring violin playing techniques. The artist performing wonderfully on this album is the promising newcomer, Ayana Tsuji, a talented young woman whose abilities have caught the world's attention, including first prize at the 2016 Montreal International Music Competition. She has been highly acclaimed for her performances with orchestras, and here she sings Berio's works brilliantly with her lustrous tone and exceptional expressive power. <Ayana Tsuji was born in Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture.
