This is the third collection of "Japanese Guitar Works" performed by guitarist Shinichi Fukuda, one of the most popular of NAXOS' many series. This album includes not only solo pieces but also original works by Japanese for harmonica and guitar, which are rare in the world. It depicts a longing for the beautiful Japanese autumn. Three pieces from "12 Songs for Guitar," in which Toru Takemitsu's creative and brilliant arrangements have modernized familiar melodies; Michio Kitazume's "Orasho," based on a traditional song of hidden Christians; and Hikaru Hayashi's sorrowful main theme from the movie "The Naked Island," about the sorrow of a family living on an isolated island, Yoichi Tokawa's "Tamayura" and Junichi Futahashi's "Autumn Song," both of which pursue the possibilities of two instruments to the utmost limit, are all music with exquisite beauty in a tense atmosphere.In particular, Takashi Yoshimatsu's "Forgetful Angel" boasts such a high level of perfection that the composer himself said, "I fell in love with it for a moment, even though it was my own composition" (quoted from Takashi Yoshimatsu's website) when he heard this performance.
