Description:
A collection of works by Bruce Broughton, winner of 10 Emmy Awards and composer of the film "Young Sherlock: Mystery of the Pyramids". And on the sixth day," an oboe concerto in three movements, is based on the first chapter of the Book of Genesis. It depicts the beginning of the human world through a scene that changes from the chaotic beginning of the world to the sunset and the next morning. The piece is performed by Stankiewicz, Principal of the London Symphony Orchestra, who premiered the piece. The "Theory of Strings" is a variation piece consisting of a prelude followed by 17 variations. Each variation demonstrates a variety of techniques, which are combined in the finale to bring the piece to a glorious conclusion. The "Horn Concerto" is in the classical form of a rapid-fire slow movement, and its romantic and melodious ideas, which seem to be in the vein of Mozart and Richard Strauss, are also appealing. It was performed by premiere performer and Houston Symphony principal Vermeulen. Broughton sounds the orchestra well, and his writing style makes the most of each instrument's sound to great effect.
