Description:
Beethoven(1770-1827):. Contents 1-11. solemn Mass in D major, Op.123 Performer Henri Reiss (Soprano) Valduch Abrahamian (Mezzo-soprano) Daniel Behle (Tenor) Tarek Nazmi (bass) Audi Youth Choral Academy Le Cercle de Larmonie (with old instruments) Jeremy Laurel (conductor) Recorded live at Philarmonie de Paris on April 23, 2024 Duration: 71 min. Jeremy Laurel has performed at the world's leading opera festivals such as the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Glyndebourne Festival, La Fenice in Venice, and the Vienna State Opera, and he has also performed Bel Canto works by Bellini and Verdi with great success, using the instruments and performance style of the period in which they were composed. Jeremy Laurel. With his own ancient instrumental ensemble, Le Cercle de Larmonie, he has given masterful performances of works from a wide range of periods, from Mozart's Da Ponte trilogy to Brahms's Violin Concerto.ALPHA is proud to present a live recording of Beethoven's "Solemn Mass" with the Audi Youth Choral Academy at Philarmonie in Paris. Laurel's interpretation is based on a review of the score's tempo and a good grasp of the work's structure, and his ability to bring out the work's inherent power with impressive command, resulting in a performance filled with warmth and purity, is superb. The performance is full of highlights, including the fearless "Gloria," which does not force its way through, and "Benedictus," in which the violin soloist leads the audience with an unrelenting sense of urgency, all the way to the conclusion, which is incomparably satisfying. The soloists include Henri Reiss (Chen Reiss), who has been steadily increasing his international presence in recent years, and Tarek Nazmi, who is scheduled to appear at the 2025 Tokyo Spring Music Festival as the soloist for this piece and as Grunemannz in Wagner's "Parsifal. This is a masterpiece at the forefront of European music, worthy of celebrating the bicentennial of its premiere. (Naxos Japan)
