Hermann RCA Victor Recordings (1939-45) The Biddulph label has been focusing on the reissue series of Mischa Elman's recordings for RCA Victor between 1939 and 1945, all on one CD. In the sonatas by Faure and Debussy, as well as in the smaller pieces that determined Ehrman's popularity, you can enjoy the beautiful sound praised as "Golden Tone," a sense of formality with an imposing dignity, and lustrous expression that makes the most of portamento. The sonatas by Debussy and the Hora Staccato by Diniuk (ed. Heifetz), some of which have not been re-recorded and some of which are rare, are also included on this CD, making it a must-see. The jacket is by Albert Fischer, an American artist born in 1940. The booklet includes a commentary by Wayne Kiley (in English), two photographs of Ehrman, and a four-page color photograph of Ehrman's 1727 Stradivarius "Recamier ex-Recamier".The American Federation of Musicians went on strike for commercial recordings from August 1942 to November 1944, so there were no recordings made by Ehrman during this period.
