Description:

The Unknown World of the Organ from the Napoleonic Era to the First Half of the 19th Century] This is an excellent project to explore the unknown world of organ music in the early 19th century, using the restored French classical-style masterpiece in the royal chapel of the Palace of Versailles where the Bourbon royal family once prayed. The program is based on a traditional folk song called "Noël" (in French, Christmas is also called "Noël"), which has been sung outside churches since ancient times during the Christmas season. This album is a valuable reminder of the rich musical heritage that emerged during this overlooked period. Isaac-François Lefebvure-Werri, the core of the program, is the father of L. J. A. Lefebvure-Werri (1817-1869), a contemporary of Offenbach who wrote operetta-like organ music with a light and varied style that has been recorded frequently. This composer, who belonged to the same generation as Mozart and Clementi, was active through the Revolutionary and Napoleonic empires to the Restoration of the monarchy, and sometimes arranged operas in the classical style while skillfully utilizing baroque tones, left many fine works that are surprisingly rich in the charm of the French organ style in a short performance time. He left behind many fine pieces that are surprisingly rich in the charm of French-style organ diction in a short performance time. The Beauvallet-Charpentier piece, full of contrasts in volume with an appealing pianissimo solo, and the solo mote by Cherubini, one of the leading opera composers of the time, are also fascinating. The beautiful sound of the instruments of Versailles adds to the charm of the work. Cantin Guerrillot, who was born in Alsace and studied under such masters of the French organ tradition as Bouvard, Ratry, Esqueche, and Painmayeur, gives a masterful performance that stands out for its neatness and precision.
