[21st century music reminiscent of the French sextet. The first musicalization of Cocteau's play dedicated to Piaf] Jean Cocteau, a poet, novelist, stage performer, illustrator, critic ...... and a man of many talents, wrote a one-act play, "The Cold-hearted Beauty," in 1940, starring Edith Piaf. In 1957, in Cocteau's later years, the play was directed by Jacques Demy (The Umbrellas of Spoor, etc.) and graced the silver screen, but it was not until this album that the Cocteau Society, under the auspices of his family, authorized the Moroccan composer Jean-Marie Machado to compose a musical play. The text is based on the telephone scene at the beginning of the play. The text is read aloud in some parts, such as the telephone scene at the beginning of the play, but Machado's singing is very familiar, reminiscent of the French Six, who were close to Cocteau's generation, and the styles of the time around that time, while the chamber music intertwines with the music like film music.A quartet of vibraphone and other percussion instruments, clarinet, cello, and accordion weaves together the music under the direction of Orrol Buchet, who sings and talks about the text while organizing the entire performance, which is colored by Laure Stabiak's beautiful illustrations with black and white drawings similar to those of Cocteau, The music is accompanied by a picture book-style booklet (in French only), which, like the accordion, is bellows-like.
