Vivaldi (1678-1741)

Description:

The first recording! The "Red-Haired Priest" Vivaldi, who was a priest in Venice, the city of water, did not participate in worship services, but rather gained fame for his unrivaled skill in violin playing, composition, and opera productions. Although his vast body of works, including numerous operas, vocal works, and rare chamber works, have been inscribed on countless recordings, it is fair to say that his real talent lay in his solo concertos, especially the violin concertos in which he was a virtuoso performer. The virtuoso Giuliano Carmignola, who has been working with this composer on numerous recordings, is now proud to present a 3-CD set with Accademia della Nunciata, an Italian group at the forefront of Italian classical music, which traces Vivaldi's entire career from his early years to his later years. This ambitious work traces Vivaldi's career from his early years to his later years using only his violin concertos! The CDs are arranged by compositional period: spring (his first breakthrough period), summer (his peak period), and autumn (stable period of his fame), and thoroughly break down the wide variety of Vivaldi's language, including the use of irregular tuning (scordatura), thrilling virtuosity, operatic singing, and detailed acoustic expression. Carmignola's solo is dynamic yet graceful, and despite the fact that the orchestra consists only of strings and bass, he is able to read the subtleties of the work and continue a rich and exciting dialogue with the brilliant musicians of the Accademia dell'Anunciata, who produce a surprisingly diverse range of sounds. The program includes some world premiere recordings. Olivier Fré, a musicologist who has been at the forefront of Vivaldi research for some time, has provided full support for the program, which includes world premiere recordings, and has written the liner notes (in English, French, and Italian).
