Now she joins forces with her longtime ally, the brilliant Patrizia Kopatchinskaja, to explore the story of two New Testament figures, the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene. Just as Kopatchinskaja's 2019 release, "A Moment and Eternity," focused on Martin's "Six Impressions of the Passion of Christ (Double Altarpiece)," this year's selection will be centered on Martin's "The Marian Trilogy (Triple Altarpiece)," which includes the Virgin Mary, Mary as Mother, and Mary Magdalene as the lowly Mother. The composer and violinist Michi Wianco, whom the two have great trust in, has arranged many of the pieces. Camerata Bern's high level of ensemble ability and the dark, shimmering quality of its tone were brought out in a fascinating way.Prohaska and Kopatchinskaja's expressive power and strong personalities, which do not ignore the intensity of the amplitude of the works, sometimes come close together and sometimes clash violently, creating the album's unmistakable charm.
