[All original 18th century instruments! The new recording is a follow-up to the earlier release (CCS43020) in March 2020, and uses the renowned collection of old musical instruments of Peter Spohr, a collector of historical instruments in Frankfurt. The six instruments were carefully selected from the collection of important Italian, French, and German composers, each of whom left important works of the same period or who had some connection with each composer, and used them to get to the bottom of their works. In contrast to Vol. 1, which featured sonatas, this time six concertos by six composers were selected, and in keeping with the common practice of the 18th century, the string players, including the virtuoso Bojan Cicic, are one per part, except for the bass, and the virtuoso Ashley Solomon's detailed breathing and vigorous blowing will showcase the true value of each instrument. The close and intimate ensemble, which does not diminish the flavor of each instrument, is in perfect harmony with the purpose of this project. The slow and lively interpretation of Vivaldi's famous "Night", the lustrous rococo feeling of Kwanz's work, and the richness of song in Woodcock's famous recorder concerto are all freshness that can only come from the experienced Ashley Solomon and the Floridium, who have been active on the other side of the Atlantic. Careful engineering by Jared Sachs, founder of CHANNEL CLASSICS and a master recording engineer, also conveys the virtuosity of the musicians.It should not be overlooked that the well-known recorder player Walter van Hauwe (a close brother and ally of France Brüchen) is the producer of the album.
