Born in Stuttgart in 1957, Axel Ruoff has won many prizes in German and Italian composition competitions and has made significant contributions to the field of organ music. He has studied at Tokyo University of the Arts and frequently lectures at Japanese universities. In the fourth volume of Jan Lehtler's complete organ works, you will hear three works in different forms: the magnificent Variations and Fugue on a Chorale Theme, the "Grotesque Suite," which was conceived as his "last work" after more than 30 years of organ music, and the large-scale "Symphony No. 1," which is for organ.
