Description:
Else Marie Paase is considered Denmark's first female electronic musician. She collaborated with Pierre Scheffer, Karlheinz Schutckhausen, and others to produce outstanding works, but she passed away on January 18, 2016. This album introduces a side of Perse that has been largely unknown until now: as a composer of orchestral works. The violin concerto of the same name as her masterpiece "Etude" is a four-part work with a tone reminiscent of Ligeti. Each part is titled after Nielsen's Symphony No. 2, "Four Temperaments. Parameters" for string orchestra consists of three movements and is reminiscent of Bartók's music with its frequent use of glissandos. Seven Works on Color" is a collection of pieces in a style so varied that it is hard to believe that it is the work of a single composer, and it uses seven sequences of notes, which is shared with "Seven Circles," a work for electronic music written in 1958.And the Trumpet Concerto, probably her first orchestral work, requires a variety of tones with special techniques, and although written in 12-tone technique, it has a humorous, sometimes jazz-like feel to it.
