From the 19th to the 20th century, two composers—Gershwin and Piazzolla—made their mark in the northern and southern parts of the vast American continent. Gershwin fused jazz with distinctly American melodies to carve out a unique musical world, while Piazzolla developed the tango form, which also reflects African and Spanish influences. Their works, which defy traditional classical musical forms, were truly revolutionary and remain highly popular today. On this album, pianist Costantini—who delivered brilliant performances of a series of works by Debussy—takes on the two composers’ masterpieces, “Rhapsody in Blue” and “The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires,” while also weaving in his own compositions inspired by their works to create a unique musical experience.
