Description:
This is a collection of works by Fritz Forbach, born in 1861 in Wipperfurt, Germany. He studied at the Rhine Music School with Ferdinand Hiller and at the Berlin Academy of Arts under the renowned teacher Eduard Grell, probably his last pupil, where he continued his composition studies. After graduation, he became a teacher at the Institute of Church Music, where he conducted a choir and continued his studies as a musicologist, eventually becoming director of the Münster Music Society and one of the leading musicians in the region. His works were rather conservative and did not deviate from the late Romantic style, but all of his surviving works are full of rich musical ideas and are very enjoyable to listen to. The Münster Symphony Orchestra, which Forbach founded, is currently under the direction of Golow Berg, who is dedicated to introducing the music of his great predecessor. Naxos Japan
