Chabrier (1841-1894)

Description:

The story is set in a fictional country. King Uffe comes to a town in search of a criminal to be skewered, the main event of a festival that is scheduled to be held tomorrow. There he meets a young man named Lazuli, who is in love at first sight with Laila, an envoy from a neighboring country. He falls in love at first sight with Laura, a member of the delegation from a neighboring country, but is shocked to learn that she is a married woman, and he insults King Uffe, who is standing by. King Uffe is so happy that he frames Lazuli as a sinner, but then Shiroko, a fortune teller, appears on the scene. Siroko predicted that the fates of the king and Lazuli were linked, and that if one of them lost his life, the other would suffer the same fate. However, thanks to a ruse by the envoy Ellison, Rasli was shot... In the late 1800s, when Offenbach was producing a number of stylish comedies, composers were inspired by his works to produce a succession of delightful pieces. Chabrier's "Etoile" is one such work, a comedy in one act "Fisch-Ton-Kan" composed around 1864, based on a libretto by Verlaine, a friend of Chabrier's. After hearing the libretto, Letelier and Van Loo (also friends) thought the lyrics were too bold. After hearing the lyrics, Lutellier and Van Loo (also friends) felt that the lyrics were too bold, so they created a new libretto and Chabrier composed "Etoile," a comic opera. The entire piece is filled with delicate and beautiful music, including the aria "Little star" sung by Lazuli.Doustrac, Guimet, and other singers currently in the spotlight give passionate performances, supported by Fournillier's solid baton, and Laurent Pelly's innovative direction is also noteworthy.
