Director Akira Kurosawa, 45, and composer Fumio Hayasaka, 40. The legendary duo miraculously discovered a recording of their conversations about the film industry, filmmakers, cultural theory, antiques, etc., immediately after the completion of the screenplay for "Record of Lives". This is the world's first CD recording of this historic dialogue between a world-class director and a composer who had absolute trust in Japan! In February 1955, Hayasaka purchased a tape recorder, which was still rare at the time, and every time he had a visitor, he would record the conversation. These recordings are extremely valuable documents of Hayasaka's later years, as he died suddenly of emphysema (sudden pneumothorax) on October 15 of the same year. In the 1970s and 1980s, music critic Kuniharu Akiyama frequently visited the Hayasaka home to check on Hayasaka's belongings and to conduct research, and offered to lend materials including this recording. Since then, the tapes have been kept at the Akiyama home.Mrs. Akiyama, Aki Takahashi, a pianist, has been a long-time supporter of Salida's activities, and this relationship led to the discovery of the tapes. The tapes contain valuable records of an important person with strong ties to Fumio Hayasaka, who is well known and influential in the world. That person was Akira Kurosawa (------). On May 1, 1955, after completing the screenplay for his new film "Record of Lives," Kurosawa took the printed On May 1, 1955, Kurosawa visited Hayasaka's house with the printed script in his hand. And, to his surprise, he found a tape on which he had recorded the scene of the visit. The dialogue between Kurosawa and Hayasaka on the tape is not limited to the discussion of the new film, but also covers a wide range of topics such as each other's recent situation, trends in the film industry and filmmakers of the time, film theory, cultural theory, and their shared pleasure in antiques. They discuss historical matters that we would not be aware of today until we read the documents in real time.
