The latest remastering brings back to life the unprecedented masterpiece "The Sad Beatles" by the "12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic," originally released in 1992 on the Fahnhaus label. Shigeaki Saegusa, one of Japan's leading composers, collaborated with the "12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic," the world's most powerful and versatile musical cello ensemble, to arrange 10 classic Beatles songs. Shigeaki Saegusa's arrangements are "Beatles music that can be listened to quietly," with the goal of "strongly pushing the 'Saegusa style' of abandoning all the rhythms of the Beatles and replacing the melodies with new, beautiful harmonies," (according to Mr. Saegusa). While utilizing the rich tone of the cello ensemble, the beauty of the Beatles' songs is highlighted, resulting in an album that one can listen to over and over again and never get tired of it. Since the album was recorded in 1992, early in the Abbado era, it features the participation of Borvitsky and Baumann, who have supported the cello section since the Karajan era, as well as Georg Faust, who represents the Abbado era.
