Description:
Legendary guitarist Larry Coryell re-releases his three albums from the 1970s in a 2-CD set. Disc 1 features the intense jazz funk of "Aspects" from 1976, the third album by The Eleventh House, which also featured Terumasa Hino, and Disc 2 features "Two For The Road" from 1977, an acoustic duo album with Steve Kahn, and "European Impressions" from 1978, which includes material from the Montreux Jazz Festival where he performed solo. Disc 2 includes "Two For The Road" from 1977, an acoustic duo album with Steve Hahn, and "European Impressions" from 1978, which includes material from the Montreux Jazz Festival, where he performed as a solo artist. The Eleventh House is a fusion jazz band formed in 1973 around guitarist Larry Corriel. The band's members at the time of its formation included Randy Brecker (trumpet), Alphonse Mouzone (drums), and Danny Trifan (bass). 1974 saw the release of its first album, Introducing Eleventh House with Larry Coryell, on Vanguard. The album was highly acclaimed, and the band became one of the most prominent bands of the 1970s, including the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report, and Return to Forever. The band went through a series of member changes and released their second album, "Level One," in 1975 on Arista, followed by "Aspects" in 1976, but the band went on hiatus for a while.Since then, Coryell has worked as a soloist, mainly playing acoustic guitar. He performed with Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Paco Delsia, and John Scofield, among others, and left many works. 1998 also played with the reunited The Eleventh House Reunion Band. 2017 passed away due to heart failure.
