The "Emperor," which was mistakenly conducted by Kuhna, is actually a record of a masterful concert full of the essence of German music! Remastered reissue of TAHRA's famous disc with Brahms on the same day. The conductor, soloists, orchestra, and music are all solidly German in this program. The sound of quality and solidity, a collaboration of musicians who carry on the true German sound! The "Emperor" with Backhaus as soloist is a legendary work that was first released under the false impression that it was performed by the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Knappertsbusch. The CD released by TAHRA after the actual performers were revealed was a coupling of the Brahms No. 4 performed on the same day, and is probably the only CD ever released with this combination. It is probably the only CD ever released with this combination, and it provides a glimpse into the consistent atmosphere of the concert. Backhaus's solid keystrokes and live excitement, Kileveldt's brawny and splendid sound, and all the other parts are full of great music, and the performance is both straightforward and gut-wrenching.The horns in the second movement of Brahms No. 4 are so cool! In the commentary, Naoya Hirabayashi has written a discography and listening comparison of Backhaus' "Emperor" and Kilebert's "Brahms 4," respectively. He says that the performances of both pieces are uniquely listenable, and also mentions the Knappertsbusch misnomer. King International
