Mravinsky also wielded the "Waltz of the Flowers"! The "Nutcracker" is a generous performance of the famous piece. A collection of rare recordings that will make you tremble with the tension-filled, intense acoustics! Mravinsky's "Nutcracker" has a strong image of being a unique selection of music that does not feature many well-known pieces, but in his relatively early recordings, he also featured familiar pieces. Although the recordings here were made in small pieces in the 1940s, the interpretations are consistent and the sound quality is good enough for this period, making the performances very listenable. The lovely melody is colored by a solid bass and a strong attack with no deviation, and the performance is filled with a terrible tension. Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp, in which a member of the orchestra seems to have played the solo part, is a dry performance with precise and lucid sound construction while maintaining a good, clean, classical sound.The Mravinsky section is bursting at the seams here, too, and you won't want to miss it!
