Description:

The "Czech Karajan" Smetacek's great masterpieces cannot be described without Dvořák! The great Czech conductor Smetacek, known as the "Flying Conductor" and "Ambassador of Music" in the Czech Republic and "Karajan of the Czech Republic" in Japan, has been active around the world and has been called a "flying conductor" and "ambassador of music. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, and Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra are the "three great Czech orchestras". The value of this recording is immeasurable, as there are no commercial recordings of Smetacek's "New World," despite the fact that it is one of his best-known works. The performance is exquisite and stunning, and exceeds all expectations. The Sixth is another work that Smetacek often performed, and its fragrant music, created by a deep understanding of the music, is irresistible. The recording of "New World" was made famous by Kuniyoshi Uno, who, in his book "New Classical Masterpieces and Masterpieces", referred to the Kertész/Vienna Philharmonic disc as a supreme masterpiece and also described Smetacek's performance as "superior to Kertész in its earthy intensity and artistic sharpness and depth". The ALTUS remastering has improved the sound quality, making this masterful performance even more enjoyable.Smetacek's depth of analysis of the music and his ability to make it sound real are more impressive than just the fact that the Sixth Symphony is a national piece. For example, in the first movement, from the beginning of the pianissimo to the 48-measure section leading to the practice symbol A and the grandioso, Smetacek's expression reached a boiling point before he reached A. While many other conductors reach the boiling point, Smetacek succeeded in expressing an overwhelming presence, as one would feel when seeing something great, only when he reached A. Smetacek succeeds in revealing the overwhelming presence that one feels when looking at something great." From the very beginning, the strings are full of blood, the brass and percussion are strong, the woodwinds blow with rich nuance, accents and crescendos are emphasized, and the alternation of tension and relaxation is exquisite, creating an expression that is extremely deep and sculpted. The key points of each movement and the coda form a climax with dramatic tempo changes accompanied by "for" and acceleration, and the strongest playing of each instrument, as described in the previous works.(From the commentary by Shigeo Itakura in the booklet) King International
