Mahler (1860-1911)

Description:

Cambrelin & Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra's matured period, the all-out Mahler No. 9! The supreme Mara 9, which should be remembered as the overwhelming achievement of both conductors, is now happily available on CD. Cambrelin's conducting is filled with all possible expression, and the orchestra responds wonderfully to the music with a great sense of refinement. This is an unprecedented performance that combines tension and heavenly beauty, allowing the listener to savor every inch of the dense symphony that Mahler wrote to the fullest extent of his compositional skill. The audience's concentration was so great that you could feel the audience watching with bated breath as the melody was dismantled and silently faded away in the closing section. <Sylvain Cambourin, born in 1948 in Amiens, France, is a master conductor who has built a number of masterpieces as the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra's permanent conductor from 2010 to March 2019, and will become the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra's laureate conductor in April 2019. Born in Amiens, France in 1948, he has served as Music Director of the Royal Opera House of Monnaie (Belgium) and the Frankfurt Opera House, and Principal Conductor of the Baden-Baden & Freiburg SWR (South West German Broadcasting) Symphony Orchestra. From 2012 to July 2018, he served as General Music Director of the Stuttgart Opera, where he received numerous awards and accolades. He is currently Principal Conductor of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the Klangforum Wien. He is also an adjunct professor of conducting at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, succeeding the great conductor Serge Celibidacke. As a guest conductor, he has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, and other leading orchestras in Europe and the U.S. As an opera conductor, he has made numerous appearances at the Salzburg Festival, Metropolitan Opera, Paris Opera, etc. In November 2017, he will perform Messiaen's opera "Saint Francis of Assisi" with the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra. In November 2017, he performed Messiaen's opera "St. Francis of Assisi" (concert format) with the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra, which was highly acclaimed and ranked No. 1 in the "Top Ten Concerts 2017" by "Ongaku no Tomo" magazine. <The Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra was established in 1962 by the Yomiuri Shimbun, Nippon Television Network, and Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation to promote and popularize classical music. World-class artists such as Albrecht and Sukrovaczewski have served as the orchestra's successive permanent conductors.Sylvain Cambourin will serve as Permanent Conductor from April 2010 to March 2019, and Sebastien Weigle from April 2019. The principal guest conductors are Cornelius Meister and Kazuki Yamada. The orchestra has welcomed Her Imperial Highness Princess Hisako Takamado as Honorary Advisor, and has given numerous concerts of substantial content at Suntory Hall and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space, etc. In November 2017, Messiaen's opera "St. Francis of Assisi" (concert format) was well received and ranked first in the "Concert Best Ten 2017" of "Music Friend". In addition, the concert was awarded the 49th Suntory Music Award. In addition, as social contribution activities, the orchestra also holds "Heartful Concerts" at hospitals and "Friendship Concerts" at elementary and junior high schools. The orchestra also continues to make steady efforts to expand the scope of music culture by holding "Salon Concerts," ensembles performed by the Elder musicians. The "Subscription Concerts" and other performances have been broadcast on Nippon Television's "Yomiuri Symphonic Live," and have been well received by the public. King International
