Description:

FM broadcast recording of a performance at Ebbets Field in Denver from Kraftwerk's first U.S. tour in 1975 following the success of "Autobahn"! This is a live recording of Kraftwerk's performance at Ebbets Field in Denver, Colorado for broadcast on the popular radio program, King Biscuit Flower Hour. The single, a heavily edited and shortened version of the title track from "Autobahn," was a #25 hit in the US. The album was also a big hit, reaching No. 5. This was a revolutionary event in the world of electronic music, but it was also a turning point for Kraftwerk. The fact that the contract with the record company had expired and the band was touring on its own with no backing. Moreover, Kraftwerk was touring in a foreign country more often than it had ever toured in its home country of Germany. The timing of the tour was such that Karl Bartos had joined the band in place of Klaus Rader, who had participated in "Autobahn. As the fact that "Autobahn" was also on the easy listening charts shows, this meant that their music, which was not supposed to be live music, was performed in a setting without facilities equivalent to a studio. Conversely, the roughness of the music became the meaning of the music as live music, and the influence of this on the various works released by EMI, with whom the band signed a contract after this tour, can be seen in the importance of this US tour. On this date, two songs from "Autobahn" and one song each from the second and third albums were performed, but these early repertoire songs have been replaced by the sophisticated electro style of "Autobahn," and the fact that they were performed by a two-percussion band makes them extremely valuable and important recordings. This is a very valuable and important record.
