From beginning to end, a verdant ensemble illuminates the subtleties of a never-ending day. The 13 compositions on this latest studio album by promising post-classical composer/pianist Stefano Guzzettoi were written between January and May 2014 after his father was suddenly diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and were inspired by the most familiar thing in everyone's life: leaves. The songs are inspired by leaves, which are the most familiar part of everyone's life. From a distance, a leaf is just a tiny speck of green, just another day in a long, long life. But once you get close and pay attention, you see a wider world with a complex inner structure. We will never be able to match nature's wiles. We humans are, after all, as delicate and tiny as a leaf.... The sublime ensemble, centering on the piano played by Stefano himself, with strings of violin, viola, cello, and double bass, and clarinet, is both pleasant and very sentimental, with a pure beauty that is as transparent as the clear waters of Sardinia, his home island. sentimental at the same time.The gentle, warm melodies, reminiscent of fellow Italian composer/pianists Fabrizio Paterlini and Ludovico Einaudi to Henning Schmiedt and Dustin O'Halloran, are assuredly a masterpiece to love for a long time. It should be noted that the order of the songs on this album was conceived by 4AD co-founder Ivo Watts-Russell, who is also a close friend of Stefano's.
