The Voodos Band is an Afro-funk psychedelic band formed in New York in 2005. They released a new EP, Frontier's Edge, on their own label, Diamon West. Frontier's Edge is the new EP from The Budos Band, a hot, energetic, genre-defying group. The band spent 20 years on the legendary Daptone Records record label, but Frontier's Edge is the first release on Diamond West Records, a new label run by The Budos Band's saxophonist Jared Tankel and guitarist Tom Brenneck. The Budos Band's departure from Daptone Records was a good one, and the departure from its long-term home was an organic result of the band's evolution. This is a natural progression. We've moved further away from the Daptone Records sound and into territory that they probably wanted to get away from," Brenneck admits.Thus, "Frontier's Edge" prepared the band to enter the next epoch, hungry and passionate, and the band found a new sense of autonomy within itself. We were able to be a force in the studio, because we were able to produce our own music. We were able to show our strength in the studio, because we could produce it ourselves. I'm in charge, but the band completely understands what we want to do," Brenneck says proudly of the long process of self-containment. As expected, "Frontier's Edge" refuses analysis and presents the band as it is. There is no need to listen to it piecemeal; you can feel everything at once. Somehow we wrote six songs in two days.
