The late Vivian Stanshall, founding member of the Bonzo Dog Band. After many years of contemplation, Dog Howl in Tune, the rock album that followed 1981's Teddy Boys Don't Knit, has finally been released.Vivian Stanshall, who was also a founding member of the Bonzo Dog Band, spent the last five years of his life recording and releasing albums such as "Terry Keeps In the 1980s, Stanshall was working on his final album, following the 1981 album Teddy Boys Don't Knit, which included such classics as "Terry Keeps His Clips On," "The Cracks Are Showing," and "Ginger Geezer. During the 1980s, Stanshall spent much of his time working on the stage production of Stinkfoot. Stinkfoot was the English Comic Opera In The Grand Tradition, which premiered at the Old Profanity Showboat in Bristol Harbor in 1985 and was later revived in London. He also wrote the title song for Arc Of A Diver with his friend Steve Winwood, and worked on Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells 2 (Stanshall was the narrator for the original Tubular Bells). Stanshall, on the other hand, never abandoned his desire to record and release a rock album, and collected songs dating back to the 1970s.After various recording sessions and interest from major record labels, Stanshall died in a fire before the album was completed. The songs on Dog Howl In Tune were selected from the 60 or so completed (or near-completed) songs on tapes left by Vivian Stanshall, and were finalized by Andy Frizell (a musician/producer who worked with Vivian briefly in 1994). The songs that were eventually completed by Andy Frizell (a musician/producer who briefly worked with Vivian in 1994) include Jack Bruce (Cream), Ollie Halsall (Pato), Susie Honeyman (The Mekons), Neil Innes & Rodney Slater (The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band), Mike Kelley (The Kelley Brothers), and Mike Kelley (The Kelley Brothers).
