Description:

An immeasurable viewing experience! Furtwängler's conducting footage brought back to life in the highest quality ever! Performance videos are uncut and comprehensive of all existing footage! Rare interviews, documentaries, photos and other treasures! 3-Disc Blu-ray set with Japanese subtitles The Greatest Collection of Wilhelm Furtwängler Footage: Insights Based on Historical Audiovisual Materials Made possible through the efforts of the original Furtwängler Society in Berlin, Germany, and its fifth president, Helge Grunewald. The Furtwängler archive in Germany has been thoroughly examined and the Furtwängler-related footage has been assembled in the highest possible density. All images and sound have been restored and mastered using modern technology, and are much clearer than previously available. The 119-page booklet on the imported CD includes many rare and never-before-seen photographs. A Japanese translation of the text in the import booklet is included as a special feature of the domestic version. Daniel Barenboim's "Why Wilhelm Furtwängler still moves us today" (approx. 2,000 words) Helge Grunewald, "Wilhelm Furtwängler as documented on film, an examination of the one and only conductor" (approx. 30,000 words) Helge Grunewald: "Furtwängler's videos are few in number and very scattered, with a wide range of quality. We had to research what videos existed and find the best possible source. Our intention was to locate the originals whenever possible, digitize them in the best possible form, and publish them on a high-quality storage medium." (Helge Grunewald, President of the Furtwängler Society of Germany) BD1 is the highlight of the set. BD1] is the highlight of the set, containing all remaining video footage of Furtwängler conducting as much as possible from the original source material. The 1942 "Meistersinger" Prelude, made for Nazi propaganda, is a famous video, but few people have ever seen the entire piece in full. Hiroshi Oshima is also clearly shown! The complete "Till" from 1950 is also worth seeing and hearing. *The video of "Don Giovanni" (produced by Unitel) is not included in this set due to rights issues. The documentary film on BD3 was produced in 1968. It was written by Carla Hecker, who knew Furtwängler well, and directed by Furtwängler's nephew, Florian Furtwängler. The film begins with information about the Furtwängler family and Wilhelm's upbringing, and is structured with testimonies from various people. Musicians such as Barenboim, Schwarzkopf, and Kailbert also appear.
