The historic masterpiece "THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS", which ushered in a worldwide re-evaluation of Japanese new age and ambient music, and "YOU WHO ARE LEAVING TO NIRVANA" and "CUTTING BRANCHES FOR A TEMPORARY SHELTER", the first new album in 23 years, were released at the same time. TREE OF LIFE", a 1999 work by world-renowned percussionist Midori Takada, who is also well-known for her percussion trio MKWAJU ENSEMBLE, which includes Yoji Sadanari and Junko Arase, was released simultaneously on LP for the first time in the world: !!!! WRWTFWW is one of the most important Japanese ambient/new age labels that has produced many new releases and reissues of works by Midori Takada, Kenji Kawai, Yutaka Hirose, Motohiko Hamase, Yasuaki Shimizu, Yoshiro Ojima, and Taro Nohara aka Yakehara. Recorded in September 1998 at ONKIO HAUS, a recording studio favored by many of Japan's leading artists, including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yumi Matsutoya, Akiko Yano, and Motoharu Sano.Released on CD the following year as a Japan-only release from BAJ RECORDS. The first half of this new age minimal music by Takada skillfully combines marimba, drums, and bells with an oriental melody. The second half is a collaboration with erhu player Jiang Jian Hua, whose continental lyricism and Takada's percussion literally weave a story. The album was pressed on 180g heavy vinyl, given a new high-end mix by Takada himself, and mastered at the prestigious Emil Berliner Studios in Berlin, Germany. The high fidelity of the sound image was further achieved by half-speed cutting. The cover artwork is by graphic designer Kohei Sugiura, and the LP is housed in a heavy sleeve.
