German black/thrash metal band HELLISHCROSSFIRE’s 2006 debut album has been reissued by HIGHROLLER. The album was recorded in January 2005 and July 2006 at RapeofHarmonies Studio in Triptis, Germany, with mixing and mastering handled by Patrick W. Engel. While rooted in old-school black/thrash, the sound is characterized by a style that strongly evokes the raw energy of 1980s thrash and speed metal. Centered around sharp, chopping riffs and tremolo-heavy guitar work, it fuses high-speed thrash rhythms with the dark atmosphere derived from black metal. The guitars feature a raw, gritty sound with rough distortion, emphasizing the aggression of relentless riffing while incorporating heavy, mid-tempo sections throughout to create dynamic contrasts within the songs. The vocals employ a raw style centered on hysterical shouts, adding a savage intensity to the overall sound. The rhythm section centers on the high-speed beats characteristic of thrash, while occasionally incorporating black metal-style blast beats to powerfully propel the songs forward. Furthermore, the music naturally incorporates diverse elements such as doom, heavy, speed, death, and black metal, giving it a unique character that goes beyond a mere recreation of the old school. This album succinctly demonstrates the musicality of early HELLISHCROSSFIRE, combining raw intensity with a wide range of influences.
