Description:

The original version is almost impossible to find, a guitar ambient piece that was featured on the famous blog "FOND SOUND" and sought after by collectors around the world." The first solo album "Silence" by Shinsuke Honda, guitarist of "Honey Pie", will be officially reissued for the first time by "studio mule", a sub-label under the "mule musiq" label! This album, which contains supreme guitar sounds with a meditative sound world, was released in 1983 as one of the "Resort Mind Music" series on the "ALTY" label under the "Apollo Music Industry" umbrella. Shinsuke Honda was born and raised in Hiroshima in the mid-20th century and moved to Tokyo in the early 1970s. He was the guitarist for the pioneering Japanese-language folk rock group "Hachimitsu Pai," and after the group broke up, he worked for a while in the jazz and experimental rock scene before beginning to work on film and television soundtracks in 1978. Five years later, in 1983, when new age/environmental music was beginning to become a commercial concern for record labels, "ALTY" approached him with a record deal. The eight songs on "silence" effortlessly fuse elements of rock/jazz/minimalism/electric blues/soundtracks into a sepia-toned paradise of music. He then went on to have a distinguished career in the field of soundtracks, composing music for such films as "Target of Desire" ('79, dir. Noboru Tanaka), "Koichiro Uno's Shellfish Competition" ('80, dir. Shinichi Shiratori), and "Whisper of Moonlight" ('99, dir. Akihiko Shiota). His early work lay buried in obscurity for decades until it was rediscovered in recent years by record diggers such as Tsunao Kadowaki (New Age Music Disc Guide editor/Sad Disco) and Diego Olivas (Fond/Sound). A great masterpiece that should be heard by lovers of contemporary jazz, steel string blues, and Balearic guitar music, and should be reevaluated now.
