The Swiss Piano Trio's Beethoven series finally records a triple concerto! The Swiss Piano Trio was formed in 1998 and has won numerous competitions. The fifth collection includes works including the Triple Concerto. The Variations on "I am Kakadu, the Tailor" is Beethoven's piano trio (No. 11) based on a theme from "The Sisters of Prague," a Zingspiel-style opera composed by Wenzel Müller (1767-1835) in 1794. The piano, violin, and cello are gradually added to the trio, and the variations are filled with technical passages. The Piano Trio in E-flat major, WoO 38 (No. 9) is probably Beethoven's first trio for keyboard and strings.The sonata gives the impression of being small, but it is a youthful work. The Piano Trio in B-flat major, WoO 39 (No. 8) is a lovely single-movement work in sonata form, and the autograph score in the Beethoven House in Bonn states in Beethoven's own hand: "Vienna, June 26, 1812. In Beethoven's own hand, he wrote, "To my little friend, Maxse Brentano, to encourage him to play the piano. The three solos in the triple concerto, which was finally recorded, are fascinating. The Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the Swiss Piano Trio play passionately without a conductor. It is a great pleasure to hear Beethoven's works performed by the virtuoso Swiss Piano Trio.The Swiss Piano Trio continues to release quality recordings on the audite label, including the piano trios of Eduard Frank (1817-1893) (AU 97690), Tchaikovsky's "Memories of a Great Artist" (AU 92673), Clara Schumann's piano trio (AU 92549), and the complete piano trios of Beethoven recordings, and more, continue to be released on the audite label's high quality recordings.
