Bach's works arranged by organ master Izoard and performed by his favorite disciples Bouvard and Espinas! Bach's works arranged by organ master André Izoard have been recorded by two of Izoard's favorite disciples, Michel Bouvard and François Espinasse. The instrument used is an organ built by Georges Westenfelder in the church of St. Maclure in Fer-en-Tardenois in the En department of northern France, which is also known as Izoard's favorite instrument. Izoard was one of France's leading organists, and along with Marie-Claire Alain, he performed a vast repertoire as a concert organist. The works on this disc were frequently performed by Izoard himself as encores at his concerts, and their unique registration and superb arrangements are appealing.The recorded works are organ arrangements of various instrumental works such as the Adagio from the Sonata for Solo Violin No. 1 and vocal works such as church cantatas. In particular, the organ solo version of the Concerto for 4 Harpsichords in A minor, BWV 1065 (originally composed by Vivaldi, Concerto for 4 Violins, Op. 3-10) is a very technical and attractive arrangement with a level of perfection similar to Bach's arrangement of the Organ Concerto in A minor, BWV 593. These two disciples of Isowar's have taken these fascinating works and made them into a reincarnation of Isowar? Michel Bouvard was born in 1958 in Lyon, France, to a grandfather, Jean Bouvard, an organist who studied with Vierne and Dandy, and his musical talent blossomed from an early age. He studied organ at the Conservatoire d'Orsay in Paris with André Izoard.He began his career as a concert organist in 1983 when he won the Toulouse International Organ Competition, and at the age of 37 he succeeded Chapuis as professor of organ at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Born in 1961, François Espinasse studied organ at the Conservatoire de Toulouse, where he won the 1986 Toulouse International Organ Competition in the contemporary music category. He has also won several prestigious competitions, including the 3rd prize at the 1st Musashino International Organ Competition in 1988. King International
