Kefelek is very popular in Japan as a regular participant of the Folle Journée Music Festival, and she is a precious presence as a bearer of light, colorful, pure French-style pianism. Just by listening to her play, French piano music is filled with a fashionable fragrance. This album is a sequel to "Satie and Friends," featuring 23 piano pieces from the late 19th century to the Belle Epoque, when Paris was at the forefront of fashion, and all of which I most wanted to hear. You can fully enjoy the charm of French music by Saint-Saens, Chausson, Ravel, Arn, Poulenc, and others! Most of the pieces are rarely recorded, not to mention Ravel and Debussy, and it is a blessing to be able to listen to them in Kefelec's beautiful performance. Chabrier's last work, "A Leaf of the Album," is a moving little piece with a beautiful melody that is quietly and sincerely sung, and is a hidden masterpiece that can be called the best of his works. Massenet's pianistic "Mad Waltz" is also full of French esprit, which is typical of Kéfélec. There have been several recordings of Arn's works on the same theme of "madness and love" in recent years, but this is the first time that a satisfying performance of his work has appeared.Chausson's "Pavane" also exudes a narcotic beauty that will drive you crazy.
