The album title, "Walking the Dog," is a melting pot of cultures and a remarkable witness to the richness of the international music scene of the early 20th century. Other styles as diverse as mambo, merengue, habanera, and samba are included, all performed with authentic artistry. The program also includes works by French composers with whom Adolphe Sax, the creator of the saxophone, worked in earnest. Lily Boulanger's original is a violin piece.I have played it on soprano saxophone at concerts, but here I played it on alto saxophone. This is a wonderful match. Andreas Mader heard Mogg play the piano at a recital and fell in love with him. Moeg had long been aware of the excellence of Mader's saxophone playing and thought that the two of them would make the most powerful duo ever. Andreas Mader (saxophone) won the prestigious Naumburg Competition and the Werner Pilchner International Competition in 2022.
