The album is inspired by a concept described in Paul Gilroy's novel "L'atlantique noir-modernité et double consciousness. Here, the Atlantic area is described as a transnational space where black culture developed as a result of the black slave trade. The work revives many lesser-known cultural connections, showing that music is always in circulation, that it is a fusion of multiple contributions, and that it is never the result of a closed environment. All of this is similar to the way Tonn3rr3 conceives and creates their music, a journey, a fusion of instruments and genres: Sono Mondiale, Global Bass, No Border, call it what you will, but TONN3RR3 strongly rejects the idea of cultural appropriation and looks to the dance floor and experimenting and modifying their music to create their own unique music. The album "Noir Atlantique" is inspired by the concept developed in Paul Gilroy’s novel The Black Atlantic in which the Atlantic area is foreseen as a transnational space where black cultures developed throughout the slave trade. It brings back many little-known cultural links showing the constant circulation of music, an amalgam of multiple contributions; that it is in no way the resultof an environment closed on itself. All this is close to the way Tonn3rr3 are conceiving and creating their music , a journey and a blend of instruments and genres . Sono Mondiale, Global Bass, No Border, call it as you wish, TONN3RR3 strongly rejects the idea of cultural appropriation, experimenting and remodeling to create ist own music, looking towards the dancefloor.
