A project that looks at the musical sources of Saint-Saëns, by Giusani, a conductor who has been recognized by Celibidacke, and the musical links between France and the Mediterranean! In January 2023, a biographical film about Giouani will be shown in France and other countries, attracting a great deal of attention. Saint-Saëns was a great traveler, especially to the Mediterranean countries. He visited Algeria 18 times, as well as Egypt, Italy, and Spain. Many of his works were influenced by his travels, including the "Bacchanal" from "Samson et Delilah," the "Algerian Suite," and the "Paris Satis" ballet music inspired by his travels in Egypt. This album is a selection of works with an emphasis on Algeria. The three movements of the "Algerian Suite" are programmed alongside traditional and classical Algerian music, so that their relationship to each other can be clearly seen. Conductor Zaïr Giouani was born in Paris in 1978 to Algerian parents. Thanks to his parents' love of music, he became familiar with classical music at an early age and gradually developed an interest in conducting.At the age of 16, he was an avid student of Celibidacke's master classes in Paris. She was accepted by Celibidacke's entourage and allowed to meet Celibidacke on the same day she conducted as one of his assistants, and was under his tutelage for the next year and a half. In 1998, she founded the Divertimento Symphony Orchestra. In 2007, she became the first guest conductor of the Orchestre National de la Symphonie Symphonique de l'Algerie and is now attracting a great deal of attention in Europe, including the release of a biographical film about her in January 2023, mainly in France. The orchestra will be led by Fetouma Ziouani, principal cellist of the Divertimento and Zaia's twin sister; Sylvia Carredou, appointed principal flute of the Orchestre National de France in 2021; Patrick Messina, one of the best clarinetists in France; Stéphane-France Léger, harpist of the Divertimento since its foundation; and Stéphane-France Léger, harpist of the Orchestre National de France since its foundation. Stéphane-France Léger, harpist since the founding of Divertimento, will also solo.The ensemble Amediye, a traditional instrument and song ensemble, has also been added to the ambitious program, which features a diverse group of players, including Rashid Buraim-Dijeroul on violin and song, Youssef Zayed on oud, and Mahdi Mukhinini on qanoon.
