Recorded at Bell Sound in New York on March 4 and 6, 1958, this session took place just days before Adderley’s recording sessions for *Somethin’ Else* with Miles Davis, making this album a capture of a pivotal moment in his career during the late 1950s.
The ensemble presents a compact hard bop program that reflects Adderley’s blues-influenced phrasing and the harmonic language of modern bop.
